Domain Name Hosting & Email Redirection
Q. Why do I need a domain host?
A. In order for people on the Internet to find your domain information, it needs to be stored in an accessible place on a server which can answer requests about your domain. We provide that service for $10 per month.
Q. What does the $10 per month fee include?
A. This fee includes DNS hosting. DNS provides two services. It tells everyone one the Internet where you web page is. It also tells all of the mail servers where your e-mail is to be delivered.
Q. That sounds complicated! Are you sure I can't do this myself?
A. DNS rules require that you provide at least two separate servers to provide domain information. We think it is unlikely that most users can provision that service.
Q. Can you give an example?
A. Let's assume for the moment that you have your local access service with XYZ Internet (xyzinternet.com) and that your email address is smart.user@xyzinternet.com. They also give you a web page at http://members.xyzinternet.com/smart.user/ . We can direct any (or certain) e-mails sent to your domain to smart.user@xyzinternet.com and any web requests to http://www.smartuser.ca to your web site at xyzinternet.com. All for $10 per month ( or $96 per year)
Q. But I bought my domain. I don't want people to see xyzinternet.com.
A. That's fine. Our web redirection service masks the xyzinternet.com name inside a frame. And you can set your "Reply-to:" address to info@smartuser.ca in your e-mail program.
